Okay, it's mid-January... I should probably post about Christmas, huh? I know, I know. I'm horrible! Oh, well!
Ever since Ryan and I got married, I have dreaded the "picking" a side for holidays. I am not the confrontational type, and making anyone even the least bit sad makes me really uncomfortable! So last year we tried to share all of our holidays, even though our families live about 400 miles apart. For Thanksgiving we invited the Laws to my parent's home in Mesquite. Which turned out way fun! Ry and I were so excited we got to have our turkey AND eat it too! And for Christmas we decided to do Christmas Eve with Ryan's family in Provo, and then drive to Mesquite Christmas morning to have Christmas Day with my family. The problem is we spent a whole lot of time in the car, and didn't even think to plan in a Christmas of our own. Christmas was still great, but we aptly decided we weren't going to try to do that again. So this year, it meant we had to decide. Luckily for us, the Laws' kind of already have an on/off system for years everyone tries to be together, and years everyone kind of does different things. 2012 happened to be a "Laws" year, so we went Provo for Christmas, and did Thanksgiving with my family in Illinois. And then next year we will just switch! We even planned our own little Christmas for ourselves on the 22nd, and did a "Christmas" with my family the 23rd. It worked out pretty great in my book. Here's a few pics from all 3 of our Christmas'!
